Jordan - Definitely. I didn't have any kind of web presence before we started ScorchedSheets. My first title wasn't published until the middle of this year, and though I had bought the domain, I hadn't done anything with it. When Em and I decided to do the shared site, it made sense to keep the domain and redirect it to SS, but there isn't any history to the eliselogan.com domain. Also, Em's been doing this a lot longer than I have, so she's definitely got the edge on me. lol.

Truthfully, I haven't been promoting my domain specifically, I've been doing more with SS as a whole site. We are getting decent traffic and I'm hoping that people are enjoying the serials. When we put it up, it seemed like an unusual idea, particularly for romance authors.

Elise—that's a great point! If you do go that route, or if anyone ever needs to redirect a domain like that, be sure to use the 301 - redirect permanently option (which should be pretty easily available in domain control if you're just redirecting the whole domain). This transfers link equity in search engines' eyes.

But for some reason, your domain didn't show up in search engines when I typed in your name. (Emily's did.) Are you two doing anything differently with promoting those domains?

Jordan and Kathleen,

Thank you so much for taking the time to review our site and make such thoughtful suggestions. We appreciate what you're doing.

As far as sharing sites, I don't know if you mentioned, but both Emily and I have our own domains (eliselogan.com for me) which redirect to the main page of scorchedsheets. I would say if you are going to have a shared site and not maintain a sep. site, it is really helpful to have these directed individual domains. That way, as you mentioned, if someone types in eliselogan.com they get where I want them to go.

Again, thank you for the suggestions!
