Anything is fair game, but if you steal one particular author’s phrases too much then you’re basically stealing their voice as well.

I can write a guest post for you about conferences. I’ve attended the SCBWI summer conference as well as a bunch of smaller ones and can talk about how the impacted my writing and how to get the most out of conferences.

@Joylene—I’d love to have that! I have his book but not the workbook—but we do want to be careful not to infringe on copyright, too. Check out the workbook on Google books, and I think you’ll be safe posting anything that’s already listed there.
