About the book
USE THE HOTTEST PERSONALITY PARADIGM TO CRAFT COMPELLING CHARACTERS
Although it’s been around for decades, the Enneagram has become the hottest personality paradigm in recent years. But it’s not just a party trick: the Enneagram is also one of the best frameworks for creating characters that are well-rounded and realistic.
Far more than a list of outward behaviors or preferences, the Enneagram can help both new and experienced writers quickly craft characters that are cohesive and resonant. Rather than pigeonholing or stereotyping your characters, the Enneagram gives writers a toolkit to understand how other people see the world on a deep level, a roadmap to understanding what drives your character—putting you back in the driver’s seat.
ENNEAGRAM FOR AUTHORS will help you:
- Find which of the nine types best fits your character to understand them deeply—fast
- Understand how to make your character do almost anything, without upsetting your readers or straining believability
- Dig into your character to identify their core motivation so you can create a story that compels them to action
- Grasp your character’s strengths and weaknesses so you understand how they might act in any situation—and why
- Find growth arcs that fit your character, creating a resonant story readers will love
- Build a story to fit a character, or vice versa, giving you the skills and flexibility to build better stories and characters
We’ve used the Enneagram to write more than a dozen novels. With in-depth examples from our own works and others’, you’ll be equipped to use the Enneagram to create compelling characters because you’ll understand your characters on a deeper level than ever before.
